All things for good
On my team, we hand out cookies. Monster cookies to be more exact.
Monster cookies are my favorite. They are sweet and savory. They are soft and gooey with just a bit of crunch. They are chocolaty and peanut buttery and just oh so delicious. But that’s not why we hand them out.
My daughter likes to bake and one of our baking sessions in the kitchen we decided to make monster cookies. Well, at least I told her that’s what we are going to make! The avid taste-tester, she put her finger in each ingredient and licked.
Brown sugar. Yummy.
Baking soda. Yuck.
Peanut butter. Yum.
Flour. Yucky.
But once you put all the ingredients together. Mix it up. Let it bake. It comes out a whole new creation and it’s delicious. All of it good.
That’s sport, right? Life, really.
In isolation, some things are really good. While others, on their own, are awful. When put all together, it transforms. It all works together for good.
All things for good.
That’s why we share the monster cookies on our team. Reminders that bad days can make great moments. That good days can teach us the same way bad days can. That if we allow it, if we truly let all the things shape us, they will all work together.
They will make some gooey greatness.
Remember there is nothing that exists in isolation. No ingredient is supposed to live alone. Even if it’s M&Ms and peanut butter.
Everything works together.
Today may have had a bad moment. An unpleasant turn. But today isn’t over.
All things for good!
I’m cheering you on!
